Cool Text - Our Patrons 456040695438708.png
It takes a village to raise a child and Broadway Company Players continues to serve our community and provide students with the opportunity to pursue their passion in singing, acting and dance through the kind support of our generous patrons.

With their support we have been able to provide scholarships that support our students and families both current and prospective allowing greater access to our programs and the opportunities they provide.

Bravura Nova Scotia (formerly the MCPA Association) is a group of people who since 1921 have supported and promoted the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, its students, and its faculty. More recently we have broadened our mandate to advance performing arts education more generally, and we support not only the MCPA but other organizations with a similar purpose such as the Kiwanis Festival the Broadway Company Players, and the Halifax Institute of Traditional and Early Music.

Dr. AJ ( Ajantha Jayabarathan) arrived in Halifax, following her medical training at the University of Western Ontario in 1989. She trained in Family medicine at Dalhousie University and has been practicing since 1991. She is a Certificant and Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University and Director of the Coral Shared-Care Health Center in Spryfield.

This year, she received Doctors Nova Scotia 's highest award for Distinguished Service and was selected Family Physician of the year  by the Nova Scotia College of Family Physicians.

She took voice lessons with Jason Davis, for a decade, and was thrilled to perform in his Master Classes. Her daughter, Onika enjoyed four years with the Broadway company players and played roles in Seussical, Shrek and Mary Poppins.

She believes that the performing arts and in particular voice performances offer rich and rewarding albeit anxiety provoking experiences that are invaluable in the journey of living.

She is grateful for the opportunity to study voice with Jason Davis. " I did not have opportunity to study voice at school and assumed it was for people with high voices that naturally could sing '. To my surprise and delight, I learned that my voice is in the category of Contralto, and that one can learn to sing. I was involved with plays, debates and poetry recitals from an early age and they helped build my confidence and ability during my school-age years. I would like to support youth that wish to explore the performing arts and arrive with a deep but possibly hidden desire to sing, dance and perform. In my experience the Broadway Company Players offers this opportunity to young and old alike."
